There comes a time in everyone’s life when she or he must parts ways with someone, whether it is a friend, ex or someone in between.
When you first meet this person, there’s a sweet beginning. Nonetheless, when you really start to get into each other and get comfortable, you swiftly realize that the relationship no longer brings any real value to your life. It could also be harmful.
Sometimes, we hold on to people because we’ve known him or her for a long time. Time can connect. But if you believe that there’s nothing significant keeping you together, having history isn’t a good enough reason to keep something that’s no longer worth keeping.
We get complacent with people once we’re at ease with them. But, staying with someone just for the for the sake of it. “Just because” isn’t a good enough reason.
Anxiety is another reason why we can’t let go. We’re terrified of being alone and not being able of finding another person. Maybe, you’re scared that any secrets you’ve told will be used against you. Or, you might be scared that the person will hate you for breaking the connection.
There are times when it’s better to have memories. You can attempt to make things back to how they were or try to create things to be the way you want them. However, you’ll really never be happy because it’ll never be like how things once were.
If anything, there’s way too much expectation and pressure to restore what you both once had. In its place, hold on to and treasure the memories. But, you need to move on. Just be happy for what the relationship taught and gave you.
If someone isn’t contributing something meaningful to your life, not treating you with respect, it a clear sign you need to let go.
