We go to sleep each night and wake up in the morning to a new day with new chances. A day filled with the power and freedom to choose. The minute we wake up, we can either get out of bed and make the most of our day or hit the snooze button, roll over, tug the blankets over our head, and feel anxiety about the day. This is no one’s choice but yours. Usually, the way we begin our day influences how we feel for the rest of the day.
When you wake up in the AM, take some time to check-in (go within). Take some deep breaths and think of something that you’re grateful for (family, the earth, your home). Take this time to be thankful for all that you have in your life instead of squandering your energy on what you don’t have.
Instead of pouncing straight out of bed, spend time in meditation. Just regulate your breathing. Breathe in for a count of 4, letting your chest and belly expand, and breathe out also for a count of 4 to let everything drop away. Observe how your breath comes into your body, observe how your breath goes out your body, and notr the little pause between every breath. This will let you develop a sense of peace within and it will also aid you into being in a good head space before your feet hit the floor.
Take some time in the shower or during breakfast to be present. Sense the water on your skin, taste the assorted flavors in your food. It feels good and it’s an incredible way to determinedly set your energy and intention about your day.
